Position Description:  Administrative Assistant/Communications Support

10-15 hours/week @ $15/hr

 

 

Purpose:  To provide administrative support (secretarial) to the pastor, staff and church leadership for the worship and work of Central Presbyterian Church.

 

 

Accountability:  Accountable to the pastor (as head of staff)

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones (and voicemails) and receive visitors.

  • Open, sort, and distribute mail (and email).

  • Maintain church/pastoral calendars, preparing packets for meetings as assigned.

  • Manage building-use communications/schedules,  programming thermostats for events, etc.

  • Requisition/order office and other church supplies, as needed.

  • Management of membership database, in cooperation with the Clerk of Session.

  • Finalize, proof and print bulletins, stuff inserts when needed, for worship services.

  • Preparation of congregational communications, such as pastoral letters and newsletters.

  • Compile articles, pictures and announcements for the weekly constant contact email.

  • Post announcements, events, and reflections, etc. on website and social media regularly.

  • Maintain positive, professional communication with others on behalf of the church.

  • Other duties as assigned (smile).

 

Competencies:

  • Realm Church Software (unlimited call-in customer service)

  • Advanced-level abilities with  Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Experience with Constant Contact; Dropbox; Drive; Canva, social media, etc.

  • Trustworthy and able to appropriately handle confidential information

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple staff/volunteers

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet rigid deadlines

  • Flexible, friendly interpersonal skills
