About

Central has been serving the Waco area faithfully since 1869. The congregation has relocated   four times … twice to the very “edge of town.” In 1921, we moved into our 1225 Washington Ave location (on the edge of Waco). That facility now houses Mission Waco, an ecumenical ministry bringing the gospel especially to the poor, marginalized, and the un-churched.

In 1998, this congregation took a huge leap of faith by choosing to implement a comprehensive five year long-range visioning and planning process. The church leadership examined five options: partnering, relocating, refocusing, revitalizing, and seeding a new church. After opening a probe site in the Hewitt/Woodway area, we eventually officially moved to our present location in 2004 (having purchased our facility from Woodway First United Methodist Church).

Since 2004 our congregation has continued to prosper and serving Waco and the surrounding area with a unique and faithful witness to the transforming love and grace of Jesus Christ. This is a place “where Christ is central to all we do!” and you are welcome in this place.
